Russia Day festival kicks off in Netherlands

Russian compatriots living in the Netherlands began to celebrate Russia Day. The festival, timed to the holiday, started online. It is organized by the Coordinating Council of Organizations of Russian Compatriots (KSORS) in the Netherlands.

The council presents The Netherlands About Russia With Love project on its website. Everyone can join it by making a video of a choreographic or vocal perfromance, poetry reading. A children's drawing competition is also held.

Russian Ambassador Alexander Shulgin recalled that Russia Day is the youngest state holiday. By tradition, it is widely celebrated throughout the country and beyond. Unfortunately, the diplomat added, this year an unfavorable epidemiological situation interfered with the plans. But the holiday will take place anyway, the ambassador is sure. 

Applications for participation can be sent before June 12. Then the jury will select the winners in each nomination,. The main prize is a lunch with the Russian ambassador.
