The Russian language plays a huge role in the international arena as one of the official languages of the United Nations. A special project created by Russia's permanent mission in UN is aimed to remind everyone about this role. It is dedicated to the Day of the Russian Language, celebrated on June 6, the birthday of Pushkin, the Komsomolskaya Pravda newspaper writes.

Videos of UN employees, for whom Russian is their native language, will be published on the Russian-language pages of the organization every day. They will talk about how the Russian language helps them in their work, how they relate to the Russian language, and much more.

The representative of Russia's permanent mission, Fyodor Strzhizhovsky, recalled that Russian remains one of the most widely spoken languages on the planet. In his opinion, Russian is in demand in interethnic communication. In addition, the diplomat noted, one must not forget that Russian is the language of great culture.

Russian is used not only in the UN Secretariat, it is used all over the world, in all thematic areas. If a person speaks Russian, this turns into an additional bonus when applying for a job in a global organization. It is easier to establish professional contacts with the Russian language and look for a solution to official tasks.

One of the first heroines of the project was Natalia Emelyanova. The Russian woman holds the post of adviser on gender issues and gender-based violence in the Interim Security Forces in South Sudan. She became the first woman commander of the police contingent in the history of Russian peacekeeping.
