The German director, writer and author of books about Russia, Alexander Kluge, criticized the creation of a negative image of Russia in the West, RIA Novosti reports.

Alexander Kluge declared the futility of attempts to conquer Russia. In order to understand this, one should just look at the geographical map. The writer recalled that all the conquerors suffered defeats in Russia.

In his opinion, Russians are also strong due to their culture. Even during the Soviet Union, Alexander Kluge was struck by the education of the residents of the USSR. “The French had variety shows, the British had clubs, the Americans had cars, and the Russians had cinemas and a state opera,” he said.

Alexander Kluge is dissatisfied with the fact that in the West they are trying to denigrate Russia and expose it in a negative light. According to the writer, this is an obstacle to rapprochement with Moscow. Kluge called for greater respect for Russia.
