The beginning of the summer season of the Big Tours Online project will be devoted to the Russian classics, TASS reports. From June 1 to June 7, performances based on the works of the great Russian literature will be broadcast to celebrate the Russian Language Day.

Many creative groups are going to present the interpretations of Alexander Pushkin’s works. They will include Boris Godunov, staged by Peter Stein at the Et Ceter Theater. The Ulger Puppet Theater from Buryatia will show Ruslana and Lyudmila, the Opera and Ballet Theater from Saratov - the opera Eugene Onegin, and the Irkutsk Youth Theater - The Tale of the Golden Fish.

Performers from Astrakhan will perform Borodin’s opera Prince Igor, based on the Tale of Igor's Campaign. The Fathers and Sons play is also scheduled to be shown, staged by the St. Petersburg Liteiny Theater. It is based on a play by contemporary writer and playwright from Ireland, Brian Friel, inspired by Turgenev’s Fathers and Sons. Chelyabinsk Youth Theater called its work Bunin. Stories.

The launch of the project in late March related to the temporary closure of theaters due to the coronavirus pandemic. Online shows of productions quickly gained popularity. In the first week, performances gathered over a million views. The broadcasts are held on YouTube, the project website and social networks. The daily audience of performances is about 300,000 people.
