More than 177,000 Russian citizens have returned home in 1,5 months, RIA Novosti reports. Such data was provided by the Federal Air Transport Agency for the period from March 20 to May 6.

Earlier, Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin ordered to help the Russians who were forced to spend the quarantine abroad. The Ministry of Finance was instructed to allocate money for these purposes. The funds are intended to pay for accommodation, food and other urgent expenses.

The Russian president had previously demanded to create a mechanism for the return of Russians from abroad. After the borders began to close and international flights were canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic, tens of thousands of requests were received from Russians. All of them expressed a desire to return home and filled out the appropriate form on the Gosuslugi website.

Mikhail Mishustin promised that the Russian authorities would not leave compatriots stranded abroad.
