Russian President Vladimir Putin extended non-working days until May 11 inclusively. He announced this decision during a speech before the meeting with the heads of regions on Tuesday, April 28.

The President recalled that the regime of non-working days was introduced at the beginning of the month. Over the past weeks, it was made possible to slow the spread of the disease. The head of state expressed confidence that this is the result of joint work, the responsibility of millions of citizens who care about their health and the health of their loved ones.

Nevertheless, the situation remains difficult. According to experts, Russia has not yet reached the peak of the epidemic. A tense stage is coming, it will require utmost concentration, responsibility and discipline. Only this way will it be possible to ensure that the wave of the epidemic begins to subside. And only then the restrictions will be abolished.

Vladimir Putin recalled that the country expects a long period of holidays, where only the period from May 6 to 8 are usually considered working days. This year, they will remain non-working, with pay and full observance of preventive measures throughout the country.

The President retained additional powers granted earlier to the heads of regions. He asked them to act carefully, in proportion to the level of threats.

The head of state instructed the government and Rospotrebnadzor in contact with the working group of the State Council to prepare recommendations for a consistent, phased withdrawal of regions from restriction regimes, starting from May 12. It is important to understand that restrictions will not be lifted simultaneously across the country, he added.

In addition, the government has been instructed to develop another package of measures to support the business, as well as to prepare a large-scale plan to restore the economy after the pandemic.
