The Immortal Regiment campaign will be held in a video broadcast format this year, TASS reports. The traditional memorial procession was hindered by restrictive measures aimed at combating the spread of COVID-19. The broadcast will be conducted on May 9 on more than 200 media screens throughout Moscow. It can also be seen on the platform of the OKKO online cinema and on the portal of the Immortal Regiment of Russia.

In the regions of Russia, the action will begin at 11:00 local time. The organizers expressed the hope that the number of people won’t be fewer than usual. If last year the rally brought together ten million people, then this year there would have been more, the co-chairman of the central headquarters of the Immortal Regiment movement Sergey Makarov is sure.

According to the Victory Volunteers movement, work is currently underway to create a single database. A video sequence will be automatically formed on its basis, combining pictures of participants in the Great Patriotic War, their descendants and the symbolism of the action.

To get into the database, one need to fill out a questionnaire on the website of one of the partner sites - the Immortal Regiment, the Memory Bank project, or on social networks.

Olga Amelchenkova, head of the Victory Volunteers movement, recalled that its participants provide assistance in holding the action every year. Even now, when the action has changed its format, the volunteers will not stand aside, she promised.

The day before, training began for volunteers. Activists from many Russian regions were explained how to work with the Memory Bank website. Then they will plunge into the history of the Great Patriotic War.

In addition, a hotline has been launched to inform the Russians about the work of the Immortal Regiment Online platform. It was organized by the executive committee of the Immortal Regiment of Russia movement, said the head of the executive committee, Artyom Khutorskoy.
