Over 170,000 Russian citizens returned home from March 20 to April 21. During last week, Russian airlines made almost two dozen export flights, RIA Novosti reported.

Earlier, the Russian President Vladimir Putin demanded to create a mechanism for the return of Russian citizens from abroad. The borders across the world were closed because of the coronavirus pandemic. Russia’s MFA received more than 35,000 requests from the Russian citizens. All of them expressed a desire to return home and filled out the corresponding form. The head of the Cabinet of Ministers recalled that the application is submitted for one family, so in fact the number of people is much larger.

Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin promised that the Russian authorities would not leave compatriots stranded abroad.
