Meetings with cosmonauts, scientific conferences, memorial events, lectures and lessons, competitions and other events online took place in different countries of the world as part of the celebration of Cosmonautics Day, the Rossotrudnichestvo website reports.

The coronavirus pandemic forced to cancel or reschedule many of the planned activities in honor of the anniversary of Yuri Gagarin’s flight. At the same time, the organizers managed to prepare interesting and large-scale actions that gathered a lot of participants.

The Russian Center for Science and Culture in France held a video conference with the Hero of Russia, pilot-cosmonaut Andrei Borisenko. Over two hundred people listened to the astronaut's stories and asked him questions online. Andrei Borisenko spoke about the life of cosmonauts and shared his experience of life in self-isolation.

In Croatia, flowers were laid at the monuments of Yuri Gagarin in Zagreb and Rijeka. In Spain and Cyprus, participants held an online conference on space exploration, with the participation of cosmonauts, scientists and cultural figures. The All-Greek online “Let's go!” contest was held in Athens, and the Gagarin lessons took place in Portugal, Armenia and other countries.

In Nur-Sultan, they organized the performance of Alexandra Pakhmutova’s song “Tenderness”. The favorite composition of Yuri Gagarin was performed by the soloists of the Astana Opera Theater.
