Russian families with kids to get additional state support

Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a decree on additional measures of social support for families with children, according to RIA Novosti.

Families entitled to maternity fund will receive additional five thousand rubles for each month from April to June 2020 for each child under the age of three.

Families, which are willing to receive the compensation, can apply for one until October 1. The funds will not be taken into account in family income when calculating other measures of social support. According to the document, the government should finance the expenses, the Pension Fund will make corresponding payments. The law began to operate on the day of its signing.

Earlier, the head of state ordered to provide lump-sum payments to war veterans in honor of the anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic War. 

The Russian leader also proposed to establish repayment holidays for those citizens whose incomes decreased by more than a third, increase sick leave payments and bring their amount to the minimum wage, and increase the sum of unemployment benefits.

In addition, the president drew attention to the difficulties faced by small and medium-sized businesses. He emphasized that entrepreneurs should be helped to retain employees. To this end, the authorities suggest granting credit holidays, deferring tax payments and other contributions, as well as introducing a six-month moratorium on collecting debts.

The head of state took the initiative to increase the tax rate for interest and dividends going to offshore accounts. It is also proposed to tax interest on income that exceeds one million rubles with thirteen percent tax. The funds received should be used to finance families with children.
