Russian tests for the detection of coronavirus were handed over to the authorities of more than 30 countries, RIA Novosti reports. According to the head of the Russian government, Mikhail Mishustin, now almost every morning around the world starts the same way: everyone is trying to get acquainted with the latest information about the coronavirus pandemic. He said this at a meeting of the Presidium of the Coordination Council under the Government of the Russian Federation to combat the spread of coronavirus.

The Russian prime minister is confident that the whole world is facing this threat nowadays, and nobody will succeed in fighting this disease alone. Test systems were received by the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union, the CIS and other states. These measures are also needed in order to minimize the threat of infection in Russia, Mikhail Mishustin summed up.

Earlier, Russia provided Moldova and Transnistria with test systems for diagnosing coronavirus. Also, Russian test systems were handed over to the Venezuelan authorities. The equipment for laboratory diagnosis of the new coronavirus infection were received by countries belonging to the Eurasian Economic Union and the CIS, they were sent to Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. They were also handed over to Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, Mongolia, North Korea and Iran.

At the end of March, Russian experts presented a new test system for the diagnosis of coronavirus. It was developed at the Central Research Institute of Epidemiology of Rospotrebnadzor. The test is highly accurate and does not give a false positive reaction. The department said that clinical trials had already been completed.

The new test fully meets all modern requirements for sensitivity and specificity. It can detect in one study not only SARS-CoV-2, but also distinguish it from other similar viruses, as well as from MERS-Cov (Middle East respiratory syndrome).
