The Cabinet of Ministers has approved the procedure for assisting Russian citizens who are not able to return home from abroad, the website of the Government of the Russian Federation reports.

Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova confirmed that the funds allocated by the Cabinet of Ministers to help fellow citizens abroad are now at the disposal of the Russian Foreign Ministry. The first appeals of Russians are already registered at the Gosuslugi website, a newly created departmental commission has begun working with them. Maria Zakharova assured that those in need will receive payments as soon as possible.

In addition, from Monday, April 6, they will continue to compile lists of Russians and a schedule for their home, the representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted.

Russkiy Mir reported that Russia had suspended international flights from midnight on April 4. The Coronavirus Spread Control Headquarters said the decision was made to limit a new wave of the infection. It was reported that citizens of the Russian Federation who were forced to remain outside of Russia and declared themselves to official bodies would receive social assistance.

According to Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Tatyana Golikova, export flights were temporarily suspended in order to determine the number of those who wish to return to Russia and work out transport routes. So far, it has not been possible to identify more than thirteen and a half thousand people out of 26 thousand who were supposed to return home.

Earlier, the Russian Government decided to allocate five hundred million rubles to organize the stay of Russians abroad. Funds are allocated, first of all, to provide temporary housing for citizens who wish to return to their homeland.
