April has become the month of Russian-American history in the state of New York; such a decision was made for the ninth time by the legislative assembly. A number of events will be held online due to the coronavirus pandemic, according to the website of the RTVI channel.

According to the president of the Heritage Russian-American cultural center, Olga Zatsepina, since 2012, the organization has been introducing New Yorkers to the Russian pages of US history as part of the month of Russian-American history, which takes place annually.

A few events prepared as part of the Russian month in 2020 had to be canceled, but some of them will be conducted via the Internet. One of them will be a photo exhibition dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the meeting of Allied forces on the Elbe. Unique archived images were presented by Sputnik and RIA Novosti agencies. Olga Zatsepina expressed hope that at the end of this year the exhibition will open at an exhibition hall.

Paintings of Russian-speaking artists living in New York will be also presented online. In addition, the organizers intend to hold poetry events on the Internet.

Olga Zatsepina hopes that Internet users will be interested in a test of knowledge of Russian America, published in two languages on the website of the month of Russian-American history. According to Zatsepina, the purpose of the events is to tell the Americans what a great contribution the Russians have made and are making to the history of the United States.
