The Russian authorities allocate half a billion rubles to organize assistance to citizens of the country in returning to their homeland, TASS reports. According to the head of the Government of the Russian Federation, Mikhail Mishustin, a lot of work is being done so that all Russians stuck abroad in connection with the coronavirus pandemic can return home. Many of them are in a very difficult situation, the prime minister explained.

First of all, funds are being used to pay for temporary housing for Russian citizens. Mishustin also promised that the validity period of permitting documents will be extended for Russians abroad in case of need.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Transport Department and the Federal Air Transport Agency have been instructed to draw up a clear schedule so that people know exactly when and by what flight they will be able to return to their homeland.

Russkiy Mir reported that the Russian Prime Minister promised to help those Russians who found themselves stranded abroad. These and other instructions were the result of a meeting of the Presidium of the Coordinating Council under the Cabinet of Ministers to combat the spread of the new coronavirus.

The Ministry of Finance was instructed to allocate money for these purposes, and the Foreign Ministry should ensure the provision of material support to Russian citizens.

Specialists of the border service and Rospotrebnadzor organize an electronic form on the Gosuslugi portal for those who come to Russia. Communications Minister Maksut Shadaev said that the Russians staying abroad were sent SMS messages offering assistance, including financial ones. Nearly a thousand people responded and filled out the appropriate form.
