The spread of the coronavirus infection and restrictive measures against the pandemic did not interrupt the work of the students studying Russian in Calcutta. The classes at courses operated by the Rossotrudnichestvo representative office continued online, the agency’s website reports.

The head of the courses, Madhabi Bhattacharia, teaches directly from her apartment and manages to maintain self-isolation. The lessons are held daily, students eagerly responded to the teacher’s proposal.

The first lessons took place three days ago. When the technical part was checked, the classes became regular.

The teacher receives completed homework from students using online instant messengers. The participants and organizers hope that the good start will be carried on during forced quarantine.

Madhabi Bhattacharia is one of the most experienced teachers of the Russian language in India, she has been leading the Russian language courses for many years. She was awarded the Pushkin Medal for her merits in promoting the Russian language.
