The video broadcasts of the Bolshoi Theater performances have gathered more than two million views, the Kultura TV channel reports.

The country's major theater launched online screenings of best performances from its collection. During the day, the number of the official channel subscribers increased by almost 200,000 people. The number of views of Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake reached almost one and a half million. Another ballet, Sleeping Beauty, was watched more than one million two hundred thousand times.

Both performances were staged by Yuri Grigorovich, the main parts were performed by Svetlana Zakharova. The famous ballerina called the number of views an incredible event. “This is what we expected, what we wanted to get,” admitted the dancer.

The Bolshoi Theater noted that they were pleased with a huge number of theater and ballet lovers.

The Bolshoi Theater for the first time in its history presented online broadcasts of six ballets and operas. Broadcasts run until April 10. The online program includes the operas The Tsar’s Bride (April 1) and Boris Godunov (April 7), as well as the ballets Marco Spada (April 4) and The Nutcracker (April 10). The videos will be available during the day.

An additional incentive to watch performances online is the opportunity to discuss classical productions with the leading dancers of the modern Bolshoi Theater Denis Rodkin and Igor Tsvirko.

The head of the theater, Vladimir Urin, called the situation in which the world found itself difficult and unprecedented. According to him, online screenings are designed so that the theater does not lose contact with the audience and continues to “give people unique emotions”.
