The Russian authorities have ordered to limit the state border crossings in order to prevent the further spread of coronavirus infection, RIA Novosti reports.

The measures relate to automobile, pedestrian, railway, river and mixed checkpoints, as well as the land section of the border with Belarus. Drivers of trucks following international routes, crews of ships, railway personnel determined by international agreements will be able to enter the country.

Russians and foreigners will be able to leave the state or enter it only in connection with the death of a close relative.

The ban will not affect fellow citizens living in the Kaliningrad region, as well as residents of the LPR and DPR, who have a Russian passport. Citizens of South Ossetia, Abkhazia and the CIS countries will also be able to return home through Russia.

Russkiy Mir reported that, from March 27, the Russian government completely stopped air traffic with other countries. Only the planes that are engaged in the return of Russian citizens to their homeland continue to fly. The restriction also does not apply to freight, postal, sanitary and humanitarian transportation.
