It will take about five to six months to begin clinical trials of the vaccine in Russia, RIA Novosti reports. According to the Minister of Health Mikhail Murashko, the first studies are starting now, they are at the preclinical stage.

The head of the department added that work on the production of the vaccine is carried out not only in several state institutions, but also in private pharmaceutical organizations.

Russian experts began to test the vaccine against coronavirus, these works are based on six different technological platforms. According to Rospotrebnadzor, vaccine prototypes were developed at the Vector scientific center for virology and biotechnology. Scientists have begun animal research.

The experts are going to find the most promising and safe options that provide the formation of a cellular and humoral immune response. Scientists will also determine the composition, dose and route of administration of the future vaccine.

According to researchers, the introduction of the vaccine will be possible at the end of this year.

Russkiy Mir reported that the Russian scientists were able to decipher the entire genome of the new coronavirus. The Ministry of Health said that the first genome was sequenced by scientists from Smorodintsev Research Institute of Influenza. Material was obtained from a Russian patient who contracted COVID-19.
