An emergency meeting of the G20 members has ended, TASS reports. Russian President Vladimir Putin took part in it. The summit was held on Thursday, March 26. The extraordinary meeting was dedicated to combating the spread of coronavirus infection.

The G20 was going online for the first time. The format of the videoconference was chosen due to the closure of borders and quarantines announced around the world.

The organizers expressed the hope that the G20 will be able to develop a roadmap to stabilize the situation in the global economy and financial markets, given the widespread decline in production and business activity.

Vladimir Putin invited G20 leaders to think about creating a special fund to help countries suffering from the coronavirus pandemic. He also considers it necessary to introduce a moratorium on various restrictions on states affected by the pandemic.

Earlier, Putin said that the epidemic has a negative impact on the global economy, which cannot but affect the economy of Russia. It is gratifying that many countries are ready for joint actions in the fight against coronavirus, including assistance programs, at the expert level and at the level of exchange of technologies, treatment protocols, etc.
