Russia to take part in emergency G20 summit on coronavirus

Moscow has been invited to join the G20 emergency meeting, TASS reports. The extraordinary summit will be dedicated to the main challenge facing the whole modern world - the spread of the coronavirus infection. Kremlin’s spokesperson Dmitry Peskov confirmed that the invitation was accepted. He assured that preparations for the summit of the leaders of the G20 countries have already begun.

The meeting aimed at combating the coronavirus pandemic should take place in two days. The summit is scheduled for March 26, it will be held online. The specific time of the meeting is discussed right now.

Riyadh initiated the holding of the extraordinary summit. Saudi Arabia presides over the G20 this year; the traditional annual G20 summit is due to take place in the kingdom this autumn.
