The Olympic Games-2020, which were supposed to take place this summer in Tokyo, have been postponed, TASS reports, and will be held next year. The corresponding decision was made after negotiations between the head of the International Olympic Committee, Thomas Bach and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe. The decision is caused by the coronavirus pandemic.

The parties to the negotiations are confident that in this way it will be possible to protect the health of athletes, all participants in the Olympic Games and the international community.

Oleg Matytsin, head of the Russian Ministry of Sports, noted that the department respected this decision. In his opinion, in today's very difficult situation, priority is given to human health. He added that for the most part, athletes of the national teams are at sports camps.
