Russian test systems designed to diagnose coronavirus have been handed over to the Venezuelan authorities, RIA Novosti reports.

According to the Venezuelan Minister of Foreign Affairs, Jorge Arreaza, the first Russian deliveries have already been received. The number of test systems reaches 10,000. The head of the department expressed confidence that now his country will have much more opportunities to cope with the epidemic and detect new cases of the disease.

Nicolas Maduro, the incumbent president of Venezuela, said that Moscow had promised to provide his country with humanitarian assistance in connection with the spread of the disease. The number of cases in Venezuela has already exceeded 80 people.

Earlier, countries belonging to the Eurasian Economic Union and the CIS received funds for laboratory diagnosis of the new coronavirus. The money was transferred to Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, as well as Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Mongolia, North Korea and Iran.

According to Rospotrebnadzor, cooperation in the field of combating epidemics, which includes a free supply of modern means of diagnosing and preventing infections, makes a great contribution to protecting public health in the Eurasian space.
