Users on social networks express their gratitude to the Russian authorities for helping Italy to combat the spread of coronavirus. Hundreds of reviews appeared on the page of the Russian Embassy in Italy, they are left not only by Italians, but also by residents of other countries, the Moskovsky Komsomolets newspaper writes. They thank Moscow and blame Italy’s partners - Washington, the European Union and NATO - for inaction.

Russkiy Mir reported that Russian military doctors, virologists and epidemiologists had arrived in Italy. Specialists who fought African plague, anthrax, and Ebola are among the group. They will assist Italy in the fight against coronavirus.

The first plane to deliver Russian specialists and equipment to Italy landed on Sunday, March 22. It was met by Italian Foreign Minister Luigi Di Mayo. In total, nine planes of the Russian defense department took off from a Russian airfield in Chkalovsk near Moscow. They delivered modern equipment for diagnosis and disinfection, scientists, doctors - everything needed to cope with the infection. Airplanes are decorated with heart-shaped stickers and “From Russia with Love” signatures made in English and Italian.

The day before, Russian President Vladimir Putin discussed the issue of assisting Italy in a telephone conversation with Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte.

Many commentators recall the Latin proverb “A friend in need is a friend indeed”, they thank the Russian leader, call the EU leadership “parasites”, demand that they apologize to Russia and lift the sanctions.
