The Russian Union of Writers celebrated World Poetry Day with the creation of a special website, which posts lectures on poets, interviews with contemporary writers, as well as information on the history of the holiday established by the UN in 1999, TASS reports.

In previous years, Poetry Day was widely celebrated in Russia: creative award ceremonies, literary evenings, poetry concerts and conferences were held. This year, it is mostly held online because of the coronavirus pandemic.

The Russian Union of Writers reported that the website had been created for the convenience of literature lovers. It contains a collection of videos from previous literary events, as well as a selection of lectures on prominent poets of Russia and conversations with contemporary authors.

On the eve of the holiday, the best museums-estates of Russian poets were announced, they were chosen by the survey. The three leaders included the museums of Alexander Pushkin, Fedor Tyutchev and Alexander Blok.
