The Russian authorities have decided to temporarily limit passenger flights to the United States, the United Arab Emirates and the UK, RIA Novosti reported. The corresponding order was given by the head of the Government of the Russian Federation, Mikhail Mishustin.

These measures will come into in two days, on March 20. They will not affect regular flights from the capital's Sheremetyevo Airport to London, New York, Abu Dhabi and vice versa. Charter flights will be organized to take the Russians home.

Earlier, the air communication was limited with all countries of the European Union, China, South Korea and Iran. Moscow also imposed restrictions on the entry for citizens of other countries and stateless persons. Restrictive measures are aimed at countering the spread of coronavirus infection.

According to the head of the Government of the Russian Federation, Mikhail Mishustin, all these steps meet the recommendations of the World Health Organization. The Prime Minister indicated that the restrictions were caused by special circumstances, and emphasized that they were only temporary. Other states impose corresponding measures.
