The anniversary of the Bolshoi Ballet School was celebrated in Joinville (Brazil), TASS reports. The festive concert was held in honor of the 20th anniversary of the institution. Pupils and graduates of the Brazilian school took to the stage.

The Bolshoi Theater School in southern Brazil was founded on March 15, 2000. It provided an opportunity to study classical dance for gifted children, regardless of their social status. The author of the idea was the soloist of the Bolshoi Theater Alexander Bogatyrev. The project was implemented by the Governor of Santa Catarina, Luis Enrique da Silveira, and the legend of world ballet Vladimir Vasiliev.

The head of the Russian government Mikhail Mishustin congratulated the school on its anniversary. His appeal before the start of the presentation was read by the Ambassador of the Russian Federation in Brazil Sergey Akopov.

The Prime Minister noted that the unique educational institution helped to light many bright stars. Now they shine on a variety of theatrical stages around the world.

According to Mikhail Mishustin, everyone who wants to get on the big stage will have to work hard. And young dancers are required not only an impeccable mastery of the technique, but also the ability to convey  a range of emotions in the dance, "to put soul and heart into the part."

The Head of the Russian Government has no doubt that the Bolshoi Theater School will continue to be one of the symbols of friendly and good-neighborly relations uniting Russia and Brazil.

At the school, children from almost all states of Brazil, as well as from several neighboring Latin American countries, study classical ballet and modern dance. More than 90% of them study for free. Brazilian and Russian teachers work with children. In 2010, the school got its own stage.
