Cyprus hosts Russian romance song contest

Performers from Russia, Cyprus, Greece, Latvia, Ukraine and Moldova took part in the international competition of performers of the Russian romance songs called "Mediterranean Romance Games". According to the organizers, the competition was an important event in the cultural program of Cyprus, Rossotrudnichestvo reports on its website.

The competition ended with a gala concert and an award ceremony, which took place at the Russian Center for Science and Culture in Nicosia. The first secretary of the Russian Embassy in Cyprus Denis Barodich expressed hope that the holding of the competition in Cyprus would become a good tradition. 

According to the founder of the Romansiada international competition of young performers Galina Preobrazhenskaya, the Cyprian contest allowed to discover many singing talents among performers of different ages. According to her, some of the participants do not speak Russian, but they brilliantly performed Russian romance songs.

The Grand Prix of the contest went to Andreu Marios from Limassol, singers from Nicosia, Larnaca, St. Petersburg, Kiev and other cities became laureates of various degrees.
