International circus festival starts in Izhevsk

The International Festival of Circus Art opens on Thursday, March 5, in Izhevsk, the TV channel My Udmurtia reports. The capital of Udmurtia has been hosting it annually for almost a dozen years. This year it became the thirteenth in a row and timed to coincide with the centenary of statehood of the republic. The festival has become a trademark of the region. It is one of the most important events in the cultural life of the republic.

More than 200 performers of different genres will enter the circus arena. They came to Izhevsk from fifteen countries. The audience will see complex tricks, interesting rides and much more. According to the organizers, the current festival will be a record in the number of unique group numbers.

The jury consists of famous circus performers from different European different countries, whose names are booming around the world. The children's jury will also express their point of view. The final point of the festival will be a large gala concert and an awarding ceremony. It is scheduled for March 9.

Last year, Princess of Monaco Stefania Maria Elizaveta Grimaldi became an honorary guest of the festival in Izhevsk, where she presented awards to the winners. Princess Stefania leads the circus art competition in Monte Carlo, which unofficially received the title of circus Oscar and is considered one of the most respected in the world.
