Russia plans to continue to expand cooperation with Kyrgyzstan in all areas, Russian President Vladimir Putin assured. He stated this during the opening ceremony of the cross-year of the two countries, TASS reports. It took place on Thursday, February 27.

According to the head of state, the large-scale cultural project is aimed at promoting Russian-Kyrgyz ties.

Vladimir Putin called the cross-year an important event for both countries. Moscow and Bishkek have built relations of strategic partnership and alliance, he recalled, which are systematically developing in the fields of politics, economy, culture, education and in other areas.

In turn, Sooronbay Jeenbekov expressed gratitude to Russia for its support. The leader of the Central Asian republic arrived in Moscow on a working visit. He is confident that Russia is a reliable ally and partner for Kyrgyzstan.

“We will continue to strengthen the friendship of our peoples, to develop long-term allied relations,” said Jeenbekov.

Russkiy Mir reported that more than two hundred events are included in the cross-year program. Russia plans to hold more than 150 events, Kyrgyzstan - about 50. The program of the Year includes international educational expeditions in Kyrgyzstan and internships for teachers of Kyrgyz schools and universities. They are aimed at learning the Russian language and getting to know Russian culture, literature and Russian education.
