The tour of the Vakhtangov Theater in Paris turned out to be a huge success, TASS reports. Parisians saw a play about the Holocaust on the stage of the Marigny Theater, which is located on the Champs Elysees. The performers brought the Our Class production based on the play by Polish playwright Tadeusz Slobodzianek. The play is based on true events: in the summer of 1941, in the German-occupied Poland, the inhabitants of Edvabne were driven into a barn and burned alive.

All the tickets for three performances were sold out long before the start of the tour. Additional chairs were added to the hall for the final performance. The organizers of the tour note that the success exceeded all their expectations.

The audience watched the 3,5-hour performance with bated breath. After the curtain was closed, the actors received a long, standing ovation.

The funds for the tour were allocated by a philanthropist from Russia. He visited the production of Our Class in Moscow and decided that the performance should be seen around the world. The play will be included in the program of the world tour dedicated to the centenary of the theater and brought to the UK, Germany, and the United States.

According to the director of the theater Kirill Krok, the Vakhtangov Theater is well known and loved in Paris.

Russkiy Mir reported that last autumn Eugene Onegin and Uncle Vanya productions were brought to Paris. Krok noted that these performances are the main "hits" of the theater and have been successfully performed in many countries and received prestigious international awards. In Paris, the performances had a resounding success. The head of the Marigny Theater Jean-Luc Choplin decided to invite the Vakhtangov Theater again.
