Scientists from Russia will be able to study materials stored in the archives of the Vatican, Interfax reports. They will have access to documents that relate to the history of Russia.

This is stated in the agreement on cooperation in the field of research of documents and manuscripts, concluded in Rome. The head of the World Union of Old Believers Leonid Sevastyanov and archivist of the Vatican Secret Archives, librarian of the Holy See, José Tolentino de Mendonça, signed the corresponding document.

According to Sevastyanov, now there is a hope that new documents from the Vatican archives will be available to Russian researchers. He expressed confidence that this will help shed light on some moments of Russian history.

Sevastyanov added that many sources mention the treasures of the Vatican Library, including modern authors of fiction. One of them is a famous writer and author of many best-selling books Dan Brown.
