Russian compatriots living in Germany took part in the carnival in Berlin. They presented a copy of St. Basil’s Church on wheels, performed popular Russian songs in the costumes of archers in Russian and German, and also handed out the flags of Russia to spectators, EADaily reports.

February is a traditional month for the largest German carnivals, during which people of different nationalities and activities walk along the central streets of cities, delighting thousands of spectators.

A tractor, which was accompanied by dozens of dancers in suits of archers of Peter the Great's time, pulled a copy of St. Basil’s Cathedral through the streets. The copy moved to the accompaniment of the popular Russian songs Katyusha and Kalinka-Malinka in German, as well as Moskau by the famous German band Dschinghis Khan.

The participation of immigrants from Russia in the popular Berlin carnival was reported on social networks by writer Vladimir Sergienko. He endorsed the idea of distributing tricolors to the audience, saying that they “gladly take the flags of Russia.”
