Russian cities to honor victory in WW2 with music marathon

The Immortal Songs of the Great Country marathon starts on Tuesday, February 18, TASS reports. The first concert will be held in the Kremlin Palace. After that, the marathon will cover other Russian cities and Belarus. The large-scale action is timed to coincide with the upcoming anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic War and WW2.

The musical project will help once again to remind modern people about the song heritage of the Great Patriotic War. Millions love and know war songs today. They turned into real symbols of courage, perseverance and love for the fatherland.

Almost one and a half hundred performers will enter the stage, including the choir and the Russian Guard Orchestra. The initiator of the project, soloist Alexander Kogan, will also perform.

The marathon will continue in Ulyanovsk, Volgograd, Tula, Novorossiysk, Murmansk, Rostov-on-Don, Vladivostok, Brest, Minsk.

As Russkiy Mir reported that over ten thousand events aimed at preserving historical memory of the Great Patriotic War will be held in Russia as part of the Year of Memory and Glory. The cycle of events was opened by the large-scale project Siege Bread, which started on January 25.
