Days of the Russian language, literature and culture have come to an end in the Indian capital. For several years, they have been carried out by the Rossotrudnichestvo representative office, the agency’s website reports. This year, about 400 students and schoolchildren participated in the festival.

The main goal of the major traditional event is the promotion of the Russian language and national culture. It is aimed at the consolidation of young people who are studying the Russian language. The festival is very popular not only among students of New Dehli, but also in other cities. The main festival theme was the Year of memory and glory, dedicated to the celebration of the anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic war.

The festival included “Peace, not war!” poster contest. Participants also wrote an essay about the role of Russia in the victory over fascism. Young people competed in reading the works of Russian poets.

The program was supplemented by a competition in the Russian language, and “What I know about Russia” quiz. Competitions in Russian songs, dances and costumes raised great interest among the guests.

The jury was led by the former rector of Jawaharlal Nehru University, the founder of the Indian Association of Teachers of Russian Language and Literature, Professor Ramadhikari Kumar.

The winners received books, albums and manuals on the Russian language and Russian history as an award. Schoolchildren were also invited to watch Russian cartoons. The students also watched Only "Old Men" Are Going Into Battle  (1973) directed by Leonid Bykov.
