Tretyakov Gallery to hold large-scale exhibitions in Russia and Europe

The Tretyakov Gallery is preparing several new and unexpected projects for 2020, TASS reports.

According to Zelfira Tregulova, who heads the museum, the exhibition called Russian Fairy Tale. From Vasnetsov till Nowadays will start at the gallery at the end of February.  The exposition will be held in an immersive format, it will be included in the program of the Cherry Forest Art Festival. The paintings by Bilibin, Vasnetsov, Vrubel, Goncharova, Mamyshev-Monroe and many other artists will be included in the exhibition.

The director called the exhibition project a serious experiment, where classic and contemporary art meet. Tregulova expressed confidence that the exhibition would attract the attention of not only adult viewers, but also the younger generation.

In addition, the Tretyakov Gallery is preparing to host the Not Forever exhibition. It features the reign of Brezhnev, which is called the era of stagnation. The exposition is the second part of the trilogy, the first was the Thaw, dedicated to the 1960s. The third part will cover the period of perestroika.

In summer, the public will be able to get acquainted with contemporary art in India. This opportunity is provided to the Russians for the first time. The project is being implemented jointly with the Kiran Nadar Museum of Art.

In autumn, viewers will be able to see the Romanticism. Dreams of freedom exhibition. It is the result of the joint work of the Tretyakov Gallery and Dresden museums.

Another major international project is called Diversity / Unity. Contemporary art of Europe. Moscow. Berlin. Paris. The exhibition is dedicated to contemporary art and is scheduled to move to Berlin and Paris once it finishes in Moscow. 

Repin's works will be presented to the attention of art lovers in France and Finland.

An exhibition of Natalia Goncharova will open in Paris in the near future. The most important event will be the opening of an exhibition of works from the Morozov collection at the Louis Vuitton Foundation.
