Opera dedicated to Dmitry Hvorostovsky staged in Paris

The premiere of The Demon opera by Anton Rubinstein took place in Bordeaux, the Kultura TV channel reports. The audience watched the play staged by the famous Russian director Dmitry Bertman, who heads the Moscow Helikon Opera.

The opera united several countries at once, it is a joint project of Russia, France, Spain and Germany. It was attended by the Liceu Theater from Barcelona, the National Opera of Bordeaux, the Nuremberg State Theater and the Helikon-Opera from Moscow.

The premiere in Bordeaux was dedicated to the memory of the famous Russian opera singer Dmitry Hvorostovsky. The singer, who passed away several years ago, used to say that his dream was to play the main part in this performance.

The part of the Demon was first performed by Helikon's soloist Alexei Isaev. He replaced Nicolas Cavallier, who got sick on the eve of the premiere
