Debates on contemporary Russian literature to be held in NY as part of NOS Prize

Russian and American critics, scientists and writers will hold debates in New York on February 4 and will choose the winner of The NOS Annual Literature Prize’s special project called Super-NOS. Ten Russian writers who have won the NOS award from 2009 to 2019 are claiming to receive the award special project called Super-NOS, the Mikhail Prokhorov Foundation website reports.

The uniqueness of the NOS Prize is that the winners are determined during the debate with the participation of experts. Discussions under the Super-NOS project will take place at the Harriman Institute, the Slavic Languages Department at Columbia University and Barnard College.

The list of applicants for the award includes well-known Russian writers Vladimir Sorokin (he won NOS twice), Lev Rubinstein, Maria Stepanova, Alexander Stesin and others. Critics, writers, poets and scholars from Russia and the USA will discuss the work of the authors, the jury will be led by Russian literary critic Anna Narinskaya.

The expert group includes graduate students of the Slavic languages faculties of New York, Princeton and Columbia Universities. Lectures and public readings in Russian and English will be also held during the event.

The NOS Prize was established by the Mikhail Prokhorov Charity Fund and has been awarded since 2009.
