China passes coronavirus genome to Russia

Chinese scientists handed over the genome of the new 2019-nCoV virus to their Russian colleagues, the Consulate General of the Russian Federation in Guangzhou reports. Experts from the two countries have already begun to develop a vaccine.
The timely message allowed Russian specialists to quickly develop tests to identify the virus in the human body within two hours, the report said.

The largest number of cases of the new type pneumonia recorded in Hubei Province. Russian diplomats are working with local authorities to evacuate compatriots from the dangerous region. Russian citizens cannot leave the province on their own, since it has a quarantine regime.

The Russian Embassy is currently in contact with 177 fellow citizens residing in the territory of Hubei Province. Of these, 120 people are in Wuhan, where the largest number of cases was recorded.

According to information on Wednesday, pneumonia caused by the new type of coronavirus was diagnosed in more than six thousand people, the number of deaths exceeded 130.

Earlier, Russian tour operators stopped hosting tourist groups from China. This measure is meant to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.
