Russia’s Dmitry Aliyev won the European Figure Skating Championships, which takes place in Graz (Austria). The second place went to another Russian, 16-year-old Artur Danielyan, who made his debut at the competitions of this level. Georgian skater Morisi Kvitelashvili, who trains with Russian specialist Eteri Tutberidze, came third in individual standings, TASS reports.

After a short program, Aliyev and Danielyan occupied the second and third places respectively, giving way to the Czech Michal Brezina. The gold medal of the European championship is the first in Aliyev’s career, as he won silver last year. Russian skaters did not win the men's European championships for eight years.

Russkiy Mir reported that three Russian skating duets were competing for the victory. At the start of the competition, the Russians showed brilliant intermediate results, having taken the entire medals stand.
