The Russian Seasons international festival started in Paris in the evening of January 16. The ceremony took place at the Odeon Theater, located on the banks of the Seine. Russian Acting Minister of Culture Vladimir Medinsky handed over to his colleague from France Franck Riester the symbol of the Russian Seasons - a figurine of the Firebird, TASS reports.

The program of the cultural festival will last three hundred days, it includes about four hundred events. In various cities of France, film festivals, performances, concerts, exhibitions will be held. Tours of the Tchaikovsky Symphony Orchestra and other creative groups are planned.

According to Vladimir Medinsky, viewers of Russian Seasons will have the opportunity to get acquainted with almost all genres of Russian culture. One of the central events will be an exposition about Sergey Diaghilev. It was he who, a century ago, proposed the idea of Russian Seasons.

Franck Riester expressed his conviction that the festival would deepen the cultural cooperation between Russia and France and "open up the richness of Russian culture to the French public."

Russkiy Mir reported that the program of the Russian Seasons in France was opened by a tour of the Theater of Nations, which brought Uncle Vanya to France. In 2019, Russian Seasons took place in Germany. The Korean peninsula was chosen as the venue for the festival in 2021, the Scandinavian countries will host it in 2022.
