The film screening dedicated to the anniversary of Russia’s victory in WWII has started in Sofia, the Pobeda.rf website reports. Films telling about the Great Patriotic War will be shown to residents of the country.

In total, the program contains more than fifty features, including all time classics, familiar to millions of viewers. The program will also be supplemented by works of modern directors that have been released in recent years.

The features are screened in the Russian Cultural Information Center. Mikhail Ershov’s Blockade was chosen as the opening film for the screening. The program will be updated every week.

According to the representative of Rossotrudnichestvo Vladimir Yastreb, the screening is built in such a way that the films illustrate key events of the Great Patriotic War - the siege of Leningrad, the Battle of Stalingrad, the battle of Kursk and other events. In addition to Sofia, the screening will be presented in Ruse, Plovdiv and Varna. Earlier films about the Great Patriotic War were shown in Rome. French viewers also appreciated the story of the war from Russian authors.
