Nested dolls, Russian clay toys, costumes of Slavic peoples and other works of Russian craftsmen will become exhibits of the Slavic Treasures exhibition at the cultural center of Springfield (the state of Oregon, US). The exhibition opens on January 10, according to the event’s Facebook page.

Masters from Kirov will present their craftmanship to Americans. Visitors will see unique Russian dolls with illustrations from the tales of Alexander Pushkin and toys in the Dymkovo tradition created by master Larisa Ushakova.

Other masters from the ancient Vyatka (old name of Kirov) Olga Paranicheva and Maria Borisova brought to Springfield the best ethnic costumes created in Russian, Ukrainian, Belarusian and Polish folk traditions. A variety of paintings, Orthodox icons and other exhibits will also be presented at the exhibition.

American museums are also interested in Russian folk crafts. Last year a specialist from the Cleveland Museum of Art underwent an internship in lace making in Vologda.
