Most residents of Europe support improving dialogue with Russia, according to RIA Novosti. The study involved Germans, Italians, French and British.

Respondents were reminded that relations between Moscow and the European Union have become much worse due to sanctions and retaliatory measures in both the economic and political spheres. When asked if they would like to improve relations, most of the respondents answered in the affirmative. More than 80 percent of the inhabitants of Germany and Italy, almost 70 percent of the population of Great Britain, three quarters of the inhabitants of France supported this option.

Most often, people with higher education diplomas are in favor of establishing a dialogue. More older people than the younger generation hold the same position. In addition, men are more likely to want to normalize relations with Moscow than women.

Opinion on establishing dialogue with Russia can be correlated with political convictions. Those who support the Brexit party and conservatives in Britain are more likely to be against it; in Italy, the situation is the same with the followers of the center-right Forza Italia party.

A similar situation is observed in France. Supporters of Nicolas Dupont-Aignan, who lost the presidential election to Emmanuel Macron, do not want dialogue with Moscow. At the same time, there are only 9% of sceptics among the French president’s supporters.
