Senegalese schoolchildren and young Russian compatriots were invited to the Russian children’s New Year’s party, TASS reports. It took place in Dakar last weekend. The Coordination Council of Compatriots and the Russian Ballet Academy in Senegal organized the party.

Children and their parents gathered at the Bolshoi National Theater of Senegal, where they installed a Christmas tree decorated with New Year's toys.

According to Slu Akimgereeva, the head of the Russian Ballet Academy, the number of participants in the festival exceeded two hundred people. This includes residents, compatriots living in Dakar and children of diplomats.

The teacher and choreographer called the first experience of holding a holiday with African flavor very successful. The audience was delighted with the costumed performance. A young man of Senegalese-and Lebanese origin did well with the role of Father Frost, and a Russian girl played Snegurochka.

Children who came to the party tried traditional treats and received gifts prepared by the Russian Ballet Academy and the Russian Embassy.
