Teachers of Russian as a second language, who work in different countries, use the New Year time to increase interest to their subject. Pupils of Russian schools from Portugal, Poland and other countries write letters to Father Frost in Russian under the guidance of experienced teachers. Children write congratulations in Russian to their peers in Russia and other countries. Santa Claus also receives letters in Russian, the Rossiyskaya Gazeta newspaper writes.

Teacher of the Russian language from Madeira (Portugal) Elena Marochkina said that her students were happy to write and send letters to Father Frost. Younger students often ask the wizard for health for relatives, and older children expect a new gadget from Father Frost.

Children from Namangan (Uzbekistan) wrote letters to the Russian wizard in Russian under the guidance of teacher Aziza Mirzanazarova. Some asked Father Frost to make the new year go better than the previous one. Pupils from Lodz (Poland) wrote dozens of Christmas messages and sent to peers from Slovakia, Belarus and Kazakhstan.

Father Frost regularly receives letters in Russian. Every year he gets thousands of messages from Russian-speaking countries.
