Over 480 events held during Theater Olympics in 2019

Over 480 events were held as part of the Theater Olympics, the website of the Ministry of Culture reported. Special programs and projects covered twenty-six Russian cities, and the number of viewers exceeded one hundred thousand people. The last performances of the program were Toys as part of the NET festival and Preparatio Mortis by Jan Fabra dedicated to the centennial of Tovstonogov Bolshoi Drama Theater. In total, 135 performances and 380 shows were held in the framework of the Theater Olympics in all regions of Russia. 37 performances were shown in Russia for the first time.

More than eighty groups from 22 countries participated in the forum. Performers from Japan, China, Canada, Austria, Israel, Greece, Lithuania and other countries came to Russia. Tours of the national theaters of Russia were also held within the festival.

Russkiy Mir reported that the 8th Theater Olympics became one of the key events of the Theater Year. It opened in mid-June in St. Petersburg, on the square near the Alexandrinsky Theater. For the first time, the Theater Olympics united two countries; it was held not only in Russia but also in Japan.

Viewers could also watch some of the events in the broadcast on the official website and in the social networks of the festival: a total of 70 broadcasts were conducted, which scored more than 12 million views. 

The goal of the Theater Olympics is to unite different theater schools and to establish the dialogue of their founders both among themselves and with the audience.
