A photo exhibition of laureates of the Andrey Stenin International Competition has opened in Madrid. Prior to this, the exhibition had traveled to Italy, India, the USA, Hungary and other countries. The exposition includes several dozens of works reflecting the pressing problems of the modern world, RIA Novosti reports.

The exhibition opened at Complutense University of Madrid. The deputy rector of the university Isabel Garcia Fernandez thanked the organizers, saying that the photographs would introduce university students, especially students of the Faculty of Information, to what is happening on the planet. According to the deputy director, the university is interested in continuing cooperation. After the Spanish capital, the photos will be exhibited at the University of Valencia.

Over six thousand photographs taken by photographers from 80 countries took part in the competition.

Pictures of the winners in five categories were brought to Spain, including the work of Spanish masters of photography. One of them, Alejandro Martinez, photographed an African young man in a refugee camp, he had previously suffered many disasters on his way to Europe. The photographs also depict cities destroyed by the war, and people affected by the cataclysms.

As Russkiy Mir reported, Andrey Stenin died near Donetsk on August 6, 2014 carrying out his editorial assignment. The competition aims at preserving memory of him, supporting young photojournalists and pave their way to the world of advanced photography.

Since its inception, the competition turned into a large international venue where everyone can express their own opinion. It also gives young photographers a good start to a greater media life.
