Russian features enter Oscar-2020 shortlist

Kantemir Balagov’s Beapole and animated short film He Can't Live Without Cosmos by Konstantin Bronzit  have been included in the Academy Award shortlist. Nominees will be announced on January 13, the award ceremony will be held on February 9 in Los Angeles, RIA Novosti reports.

Beanpole will compete for victory in International Feature Film category with nine films by directors from France, South Korea, the Czech Republic, Estonia and other countries. Pedro Almodovar’s Pain and Glory is also among contestants.

Animated Short Film category also includes top ten candidates, including works from the USA, China, France, the Netherlands and other countries. If Konstantin Bronzit makes to the list of nominees, he will be among the applicants for the prestigious film award for the third time. Kantemir Balagov became the debutant of the Oscar selection. Beanpole has already won a number of prestigious international prizes
