The collections and educational programs of the Tretyakov Gallery have become more accessible thanks to the launch of the Lavrus online educational project. The website will contain lectures by famous art critics, excursions, publications and other materials about Russian art and the Tretyakov collection, TASS reports.

Lavrus started with a course of lectures on the iconic artists of Russian painting - Ilya Repin and Vasily Polenov. According to the Director General of the Tretyakov Gallery Zelfira Tregulova, the creation of a website about Russian art is brought about by the need and request of the society that often receives unverified information on the internet about Russian artists and their creations.

According to Tregulova, website’s development was also aimed at increasing the accessibility of the Tretyakov Gallery’s unique collection and attempting to present information in a modern visual style. The gallery’s general director also announced that work on the project was ongoing, and the website could change depending on the reaction and wishes of users.
