The branch of the Russian Museum in Malaga was included in the list of the best Spanish museums, TASS reported. This was stated by its director Vladimir Gusev. According to him, the successful work of the branch is indicated by the fact that Spanish experts included it in the top 20 best museums in the country. Vladimir Gusev recalled that in the spring of next year, the branch would celebrate its first anniversary.

The opening took place on March 25, 2015. The branch is located in the building of the former tobacco factory La Tabacalera, built in 1920. The Russian Museum has been allocated rooms with an area of about two thousand square meters. A variety of genres of Russian art are presented to the attention of residents and visitors to the city: from icons of the fifteenth century to the avant-garde of the last century. All expenses for the opening of the museum were borne by the Spanish side.

The agreement between the museum and the city authorities was concluded for ten years. The branch annually organizes three exhibitions: two temporary ones, which work for six months, and one permanent one.

The information and educational center Russian Museum: a Virtual Branch, a children's educational center with creative workshops, cinemas, a gift shop, and a café also operate in Malaga.

The museum in Malaga is unique in that it became the first European branch of the Russian Museum. It immediately declared himself as one of the most interesting in the city and in Spain. Within the walls of the branch, more than twenty expositions were shown, which brought the paintings of prominent Russian and world artists to Malaga.
